Yodeck Alternative — Screensync

Yodeck ships you a Raspberry Pi. Screensync doesn't.

If you already have an Android TV, Fire TV, or smart display, Screensync runs on it directly. You save the hardware cost, skip the shipping wait, and pay less than half the per-screen price. For everything else, the products are similar.

When Screensync wins

  • You already have screens. Most cafés, gyms, opticians, dental practices and offices already have an Android TV or Fire TV. Screensync runs on it natively.
  • You want to start tonight. 3 minutes from signup to content on screen — no waiting for a Pi to arrive in the post.
  • You want the cheaper option. €4/screen/month vs Yodeck's €8 — less than half. Annual saving on 10 screens: €480 — and the gap widens at volume, where volume pricing kicks in.
  • You want the founder, not a ticket. Email support@screensync.tv and Chris (the founder) replies personally.

When Yodeck wins

Honestly: there are cases where Yodeck is the better choice.

  • You have no screens at all. Yodeck's bundled Pi is the path of least resistance — they ship hardware, plug-and-play, no procurement headache.
  • You need on-prem / offline-first. Yodeck has more enterprise features for VPN-based fleets. Screensync is cloud-first.
  • You need 24/7 phone support. Yodeck has a multi-timezone support team. Solo founder = one human response window.
  • Vendor longevity is your #1 concern. Yodeck has been around since 2014; Screensync went live in May 2026.

FAQ

Will Screensync work on my Yodeck-supplied Raspberry Pi?

Yes — install Raspberry Pi OS Lite, open Chromium browser at screensync.tv/tv, enter pair code. The hardware works fine; you just stop paying Yodeck for it.

What about offline playback?

Currently Screensync requires internet to fetch content. Cached playback for short outages is on the roadmap. If you need fully offline deployment, Yodeck is the better choice today.

Can I use a Chromecast / Roku / Apple TV?

Chromecast: not directly (locked-down). Roku: not yet. Apple TV: yes via Safari, though it's the most expensive option. Best fit: Fire TV Stick (£25 from Amazon) or any Android TV box.

Do I get a free trial?

Yes — 14 days with every feature unlocked, no credit card. When the trial ends, your first screen stays free forever (with a small Screensync watermark). We make money on customers who scale to multiple screens.

Is Screensync GDPR-compliant?

Yes — UK-based, GDPR-compliant by default. Data hosted on Supabase (EU region). We never sell or share customer data.

Why is Screensync cheaper than Yodeck?

We don't ship hardware. Yodeck has to cover Raspberry Pi cost, shipping, returns, and customs — about £25–40 per screen of COGS. We pass that saving directly to you.

Who built Screensync?

Hi — I'm Chris Perry. UK-based solo founder. Started building this in October 2025, went live May 2026. Email me at support@screensync.tv with anything.
